You know this team is playing terrible the last few days. Everyone slumps I know we're out Soriano and now Ramirez but look at some other good/decent teams. The dodgers just got shut out in 3 straight games. At least we managed to put a couple runs up on the board. The dodgers have lost 6 in a row and 9 of their last 10. I know these are two completely different teams but everyone slumps at some point or another. I think everyone got so used to winning more than losing and now that it's happening everyone is blowing up because of course we're the Cubs. So there is 1,000,000 pessimists per 1 optimist.

Good point, we've seen it so many times the annual downward spiral (with the exception of 2006 lol). But I remain optimistic because when they finally do get to the promised land it will make it that much sweeter.

April 2nd, 2008. They won't dip below .500 this season. Someone has to be a damn optomist around here.
Only problem is, most people on this board were able to catch an inning or two of baseball this weekend, or at least a box score. No optimism to be found after that.

This is a Cub site, Optimism will not be tolerated.

I can't root against them, either.

I just sit in my chair every evening shellshocked, wondering what the hell has to happen to get this team a championship. You know, like everyone else.

Cubs get swept by the Rockies.

Record as of Sunday night: 58-59.

Ill bet you a years worth of premium that doesnt happen, we have to luck into at least 1 win

I can't root against them either, and I do believe we will win at least one game this weekend, but no, the bolded part most certainly does not have to happen. The way this team has bottomed out, they could very easily find themselves 8 games in a row in the wrong direction.

Here's hoping Lilly puts a stop to all that talk in a few hours.

Next time were below .500 will be sometime next year.

Lord knows, it could happen, but I'm betting against it. Perhaps if they lose Opening Day 2008...

I have faith in Uncle Lou we won't go below .500 this year and for that matter I think we can right the ship and pull this one together and enter the postseason on a roll. I refuse to think negatively, some may revel in the fact that in past season the Cubs have fallen apart but I won't. This is a different year a different manager a new era. I hope my point has been understood!!

I think it's clear that, at some point during the past two years, aliens have replaced glasscow with a far more optimistic clone.
