It looks like the Braves will be without Edgar Renteria for awhile.

Link.

Shortstop Edgar Renteria was put on the disabled list by the Atlanta Braves on Friday, one day after he sprained his right ankle while trying to field a hard grounder.

Renteria, hitting .336 with 11 homers and 53 RBIs, was put on the 15-day DL with a high ankle sprain. Renteria had to be helped off the field Thursday night after he hurt the ankle in the eighth inning while trying to field a one-hopper off the bat of Houston's Ty Wigginton.

Young Yunil Escobar will likely get most of the starts in his absence.

Karma's a bitch after what he did to Fontenot (Or was it aganist The Riot?) during the Cubs/Braves series in Atlanta.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about when Edgar stole second, and elbowed Fontenot (or Riot) after the fact that he got plunked, I believe.

Just goes to prove what an amazing job Schuerholz has done in Atlanta. Good players go down and they're replaced by great prospects. Trade great prospects and bring in a slugger, a loogy, and a closer. The bottom line is that they're have been contending for almost 20 years.

This is a blow to the Braves' Wild Card chances, which in turn increases the Cubs' chances if they don't win the division. I can't say I'm unhappy about this. :D

I'm not sure. If Yunil continues to play well, they may not miss a beat.
