Jacque Jones is a realist when it comes to his status with Cubs fans.

He was alternately booed and cheered in Tuesday night’s 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

“It’s going to be what it’s going to be,” said Jones, who has moved from right field to center during this season. “It’s been a year and a half (with the Cubs). I mean, I know I’m not everyone’s favorite here. Fine. I’m here to help this team win whether people like it or not. I’m just here to help this team. I don’t really think much about it. I know what it is. It’s just the way it is.”

Maybe his improved attitude is leading to some improved play?

Improved play?

He looked like he had a honeycomb in his butt and the bees were chasing him out there last couple nights.

It was nice of him to catch that ball, though.

more like he's been lucky on balls put in play. He still doesn't walk and his power hasn't returned, so he's pretty useless.

I don't think we'd have much to lose by playing Pie in CF at this point.

He's lost what 3 fly balls this series so far. Have to think we coulda offered up someone better than the catching prospect cleveland did for lofton, if we aren't gonna give pie CF yet.

Jones is making himself look like a fool in the OF. Pie is 10x the defensive player, and the offense isnt much different with the potential for Pie to be alot better The sooner this team gets Jones out of CF and puts Pie in there and lets him play, the better.

He had to duck to miss being hit by that ball off the wall today. Could've been caught easily. How many is that he "hasn't seen" in this series? Four?

Jacque Jones is my least favorite player ever. He is just total garbage. I bet his kids boo him.

I have trouble rooting for him at the plate. I just look at him and see everything that has ever been wrong with the Cubs.

He's a joke in CF, he can't throw, and he can't take a walk to save his life. What a horrid player.

If a guy who puts up a 107 OPS+ in his only full season as a Cub and fills in at CF even though he would be the first one to tell you its not his natural position is your most hated Cub ever, you haven't been following the team very long. Buckle up the chinstrap, because you're going to a lot, lot, lot worse players.

Good for Jacque. I like the guy as a person, I hope he has a nice rest of the season.

...On someone else's team.

When does Felix Pie get here again?

I like him as a person too. But it's hard to keep giving someone a pass when they continually make the same mistakes at the detriment of the team.

My wish isn't to see Jones fail and be traded, I'd much rather him be successful here. We'll see.

Jockstrap is a GREAT guy and GREAT teammate. It's too bad he sucks at baseball, because I like him as a person and don't wish him the ill that many people do.

It's odd when you know it's true that racist letters sent to Jacque, and DP's hit into, are in a direct correlation.

All I'm saying is that Jacque seemed to almost be sheltered in Minnesota. The pressure was never on him to produce as a LH bat, or even hold his weight defensively. As a member of the Cubs, he's dealt with everything from even hitting 3rd/4th a few days to dealing with the winds out in the OF. Poor guy needs a Xanax I think.
