Changing posture means the Cardinals are less likely to part with shortstop David Eckstein, who has been impressive offensively since returning from back problems. While most contending clubs have little obvious need for shortstop help, the Padres are among teams that have inquired about Eckstein as possible help at second base. Eckstein is a pending free agent, and the Cardinals have made no overtures to him about an extension. -- St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Personally, I'd rather have Greene. Their OPSs will be similar, but Greene's is based on power.

 

Padres want Eckstein at 2B, not SS.

If the OPS is equal, the one with the higher OBP is better.

Wouldn't that depend on how much better the OBP is?

 

You would rather have some getting on via a walk than a HR?

 

Unless we are talking dramatic difference in OBP I'll take the extra slugging.
