Is Burke in Boise a demotion from where he was in the Padres system prior to the trade?

Yeah, he was in Low A when he was floundering in the SD system. It's not so bad though, he's only 19 and doesn't turn 20 until April, so he's not exactly falling behind the curve when it comes to age v. level.

Cub Prospect Home Runs yesterday:

Boise's RF Kyler Burke: 2 for 3, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 RBI, 1 R

Iowa's 1B Josh Kroeger: 2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 SO, 1 CS, 1 RBI, 2 R

Iowa's CF Felix Pie: 3 for 4, 1 HR (GS), 1 CS, 4 RBI, 2 R

Ain't he an outfielder with a good arm and good speed? Why waste him at 1B?

He's been playing in the OF, probably just got a game there to change things up, Hoffpauir is on the DL and Moore got promoted so there weren't a ton of 1B options(especially since Soto caught).

Oh, any news on who will get called up between Murton and Cedeno? (since Moore will likely go down.)

Kroeger is filling the void at 1B since Hoffpauir went out for the season with an injury.

The I-Cubs first tried Hart then got minor league vet John Nelson at 1B and here are his splits for July: .186/.280/.419

Scott Moore got called up and Nelson moved to 3rd. LF right now is Buck Coats, who was playing CF. CF is obviously Pie, who doesn't belong in the minors anymore.

Yikes; I hadn't heard that. What happened?

I went through the I-Cubs game notes back to July 4 and all they had was

OUCH: Micah Hoffpauir is day-to-day after injuring his knee running the bases Monday.

The I-Cubs roster shows him on the 7-day DL.

Maybe the knee injury was worse than initially thought. Perhaps it was first thought to be a strain but an MRI showed a more significant tear.
