Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn !

A little man love Vance?

Shouldn't you buy him dinner before you ask him to bed?

Forget about the Dunn talk. The guy has been on a decline in obp the last couple of years. Sure, he hits homers but his avg is at .258, his obp at.351 and his defense is bad. If I'm going to trade one of our best chips, I want a better player than Dunn.

Tampa is going nowhere, they are getting worse by the day. They have absolutely NO pitching other than Kazmir, and even he's not exactly lighting the world on fire. But they do have some bats...hard to see Crawford or Young going anywhere, but what about Gomes? He does play RF, he's been hurt, but he was a monster in 2005. And though he's struggled some this year, he has his OPS pushing .800.

If Davis, Niemann & McGee develop as they look like they will, I wouldn't want to face tampa in about 3-4 years.

Here's a different one to chew on. Again, we're not talking all-stars here, but pieces that can potentially help.

Emil Brown, KC, as the RH bat with some pop that Lou wants for his bench and to platoon with Floyd. In fact, I'll bet you could even get KC to take Izturis off our hands in exchange. Brown makes $5MM this year, Izzy makes $4MM. KC most certainly would not start Izturis; Tony Pena Jr. has done OK at SS and has a little upside; our old friend Mark Grudzielanek is due back soon at 2B. But they could use him as a reserve.

Ick. Brown has a .310 slugging percentage. Pop?

He's been hit VERY hard of late and lost four in a row. He has looked better overall than Kazmir though, I'll grant you that. His WHIP is outstanding to go with those K's. Fantasy players must love him.

Well, he did have pop before this year, and he does have a .360 OBP against left-handers. I'd trade Jones for Brown-KC was interested in him before the Cubs signed, maybe they'd still be. At least it gets us a player who can hit left-handers better than right-handers instead of the other way around. That would fit better with the Cubs roster.

Geezus, what the hell do you expect for Cesar Izturis? Brown is having a craptastic year. He also posted an 800 OPS the previous two years. He's a RH Jock Jones in that regard, but with the upside that he's (1) a better defender, (2) hits RH, (3) and can run the bases some. It would be a small incremental improvement, isn't that progress?

Two words: Jim and Hendry.

It's not progress if it precludes an acquisition that might actually make a difference. Hendry's not going to trade for Brown and then turn around and trade again for Dunn/Abreu/Dye.

I wouldn't count on it unless we end up below .500.

When he was in Nashville he K'ed to end a game. Walked back to the weight room and tossed the 25lb and up dumbbells through the metal back door. Yes I did say through. I know because I was picking them up after the clubhouse cleared out later that night.

So he does have some pop, just not alot in his bat unfortunately.

Yeah, as the season goes along it seems less and less likely that Hendry will be fired. Even if the Cubs finish a few games short this year, he will most likely be the G.M. next year IMO.

one more year of hendry makes me want to cringe...at least someone won't be tempted to pick up sabean then...god, that dude is slightly stoopid

Right field is the obvious choice.

He'd be no worse defensively than our current RF.
