I understand that Derosa may be one of htem ore easily tradeable guys on the roster, but I don't think he's SO tradeable that you'll get back anything that would turn out much better than he is now.

At his cost, and for his abilities, he's the type guy we should KEEP, imo. He can play 2-4 positions at either an average/adequate level or even solidly. He gets on base, hits the ball fairly hard, and seems like a great clubhouse guy.

Why are people so excited about Fontenot and Theriot? Neither of them has had a great career in the minors and neither of them are still young guys by prospect standards (27 years old). How can either of them be considered a good solution at 2B?

DeRosa's production is also out of line with his career, but he looks like a better bet for 2B than either of those two due to the fact that he has recently put up similar numbers over the course of 500+ ABs. If we could get a good price for him, do it, but I think his trade value is probably not as high as his actual value at this point.

Patterson is where the real excitement is. Theriot and Fontenot are nice role players, which is what DeRosa is as well.

What do the Yanks have that the Cubs would want though? (other than A-Rod of course). Given Hendry and Piniella's love for DeRosa, I don't see him going anywhere.

It probably wouldn't be a matter of getting someone we want. We'd probably get a mid-level prospect or two.
