The A's and Twins just completed a 1-0 game, with the pitchers giving up a combined 8 hits and 1 walk. Time of the game? 1:49! That's got to be the fastest game this year, right?

I actually saw something in the paper about this the other day. The Blue Jays and White Sox played a 2-0 game earlier this week in 1:50, and the paper said it was the 2nd fastest game this year. They didn't say which was the fastest.

There were no RBI in the game, as the only run came on Shannon Stewart's double-play ball in the sixth inning. Blanton, whose previous shutout came May 31, 2006 against the Royals, allowed just three hits, walked none and struck out six in the second quickest game of the season (1:49). The A's were also involved in the first, a 2-0 win over Seattle on April 27 (1:47). Oddly, the three fastest games in baseball this year have been AL contests.
