Soriano was named NL Player of the Week.

Soriano hit .480 with four home runs, five RBI and six runs during the last week. He homered in three consecutive games to help the Cubs to a sweep over the intracity rival White Sox over the weekend. He led off both Friday's and Saturday's games with homers.

It gets better:

Soriano...posted a .519 on-base percentage in the Cubs' six-game road trip.

I didn't realize he was on base that much during the trip.

Well, his average was .480 so he didn't have a major spike in plate discipline, just some hot hitting and good luck. I'll take that any day, though.

Soriano, like many of the best hitters, is a streak hitter. When he gets hot, watch out. When he's cold, you wait for the next hot streak. There are very few top hitters that aren't streaky.

There are very few "top hitters" as unproductive as Soriano. Most top hitters maintain solid numbers and get their great numbers out of streaks. The problem with Soriano is he's not a top hitter. He needs his hot streaks just to keep his numbers out of the trash bin.

He needs the Pittsburgh Pirates to stay out of the trash bin. 24 of his 72 total bases are vs. Pirates pitching. That's one third of his production.

stuf like this makes me lol

geez.

all the guy does is go out single handedly (with a tip of the Cap to the Starting Staff which was lights out, but you know that Pitching and defense win championships already) and beat down one of our fiercest rivals for a Sweep over the weekend with 3 killer HRs.

Then goes out and wins the game tonight by coming up with the 2 out game winner to oppose everyone who claims that he isnt clutch, doesnt drive in runs at needed times, or period (for that matter).

What does the guy have to do to impress you? walk on water? turn water into wine? Thats probably 4 games right there we may not have won without him.

Hello unreal expectations.

After 6/25, he has won Chicago over.

MAN.

As far as I'm concerned, his first year of contract has officially been earned.

So from here on out he's going to defer some of his play for year 8 at 19 million dollars?:o
