Maybe we can create some sort of "Cubs lost their most recent game so the season is over" master thread, so we can keep all this stuff in one place?

Going into this season it was not necessarily pessimistic to have low expectations this season. This team still has some serious flaws which are being exposed.

 

That being said, the current management team cannot, will not and should start thinking about next year yet. There is no next year for Hendry as the new owners will almost certainly fire him unless the Cubs make the playoffs and win a series.

 

Hendry won't trade Zambrano for anything but MLB ready talent. I'd be more worried about him trading Murton, Pie and or Guzman for some quick fix type solutions to try to win now.

I'm not convinced Hendry is even going to be allowed to make anything more than some minor moves until the club is sold. I could be wrong, but it sort of looks like they're just going to let Zambrano play out his contract, then leave.

The only person who ever seems to fit people's definition under this is Ivan Rodriguez.

 

Pudge is only much of a hitter against lefties now. Against righties he's a 7 or 8 hitter.

 

About the only relatively available catcher I can think of who's above average with both the glove and the bat is Greg Zaun in Toronto... and he's only above average with the glove by a slim margin. Mauer and McCann both fit the billing too, but they're gonna be in their respective organizations for a long time.
