Is Man-made Global Warming a problem?

I have to admit, I'm a little amazed at how close this poll is.

 

Me too, given how little debate there really is in the scientific community.

Funny thing is, I would consider myself far from a Liberal. I have always had issues with groups like Green Peace and such. Yet most everything I have seen about global warming has been very rationale. I think some Conservatives everytime they hear the word environment start thinking "Tree Hugging Liberals"

ROFL...I have 2 cubemates at work. One is far left and the other is middle right. They understand their differences, and are each able to take some ribbing from the other. The words "tree hugging liberal" are a frequent jab.

Its an issue that is completely made up by liberal tree huggers. There are as many scientist that dont believe it is a problem as there is that do. Liberals cry louder though and its in alot of people's nature to believe that the sky is falling when they hear someone say it that it is without researching the situation. Since the media is largely controled by the liberals global warming is all people hear.

 

I didn't know Bill O'Reilly was a Cubs fan.

I actually used that term to take a jab at an earlier poster who said that Global Warming was just something tree hugging liberals complain about

Whats the problem here? Warm it up. Being from Michigan id love a warmer winter. Bring on the heat. If its warmer is winter i will use less natural gas to heat my house, so its kinda a wash for me. kidding :wink:

Lost in all this discussion is that fossil fuels are now so expensive that very soon alternative fuels will be cheaper and therefore viable.

I believe man-made causes have a partial effect, and when combined with cyclical changes in climate, could cause normally warmer periods to be exaggerated. Maybe even drastically exaggerated.

I have to admit, I'm a little amazed at how close this poll is.

Nuanceless polls can lead to screwy results. I won't vote because A) unclear how big a factor AGW is to total GW, B) unclear what the costs and benefits of GW are. People don't seem to talk much about the benefits for some reason.

On the other hand, I can say that Kyoto isn't a solution
