vs RHP vs LHP

C Barrett 6 Barrett 5

1B Lee 3 Lee 3

2B DeRosa 7 DeRosa 7

3B Ramirez 4 Ramirez 4

SS Theriot 2 Theriot 2

LF Soriano 1 Soriano 1

CF Pie 8 Pie 8

RF Floyd 5 Murton 6

Why Lou? Because Jones should be on the bench. His bat does not compensate for Floyd's power or Murton's OBP (yet his hits come in meaningless situations) and his arm, while appears stronger this year, is as accurate as my 3-year old peeing in the potty.

Thoughts?

edit: How do you post tables by the way?

Sounds good but I'd bat barrett 5 against rhp and have floyd at 6. against lhp i'd even consider possibly switching derosa and murton if derosa keeps playing well and murton struggles.

For all the talk of trading Jones he probably would be more offensively productive playing CF against RHP than Pie.

Maybe, though no significant improvement (Saber heads, can you corroborate?) can be attested since he hasn't produced at all in the middle of the lineup yet.

I like Pie's upside and speed at the bottom of the order. Let alone the circus playing Soriano, Jones and Floyd together can be.

Yeah, defensively there is no doubt I would feel more comfortable with Pie in CF. What I would really like to see is Soriano in RF and Murton/Floyd in LF but it looks like Lou is pretty set on having Sori in LF.

Yeah, he doesn' want to have to make Soriano learn ANOTHER new position.

So when exactly is it that hits are meaningless? Do you have proof of this? Quite frankly thats just a ridiculous comment.

I said meaningless situations (didn't I?), which implies lack of production as mostly a middle of the order hitter.

Jacque Jones is hitting to the tune of .188/.350/.188 with runners in scoring position, with a torrid .176/.176/.176 when the team needed him the most (5th slot, sample size be damned).

In addition, he's dead last amongst starting NL right fielders in RBIs, total bases and extra base hits, and next-to-last in RBI chances and OPS (zero HRs) - all this to a player that shouldn't be a starter in this league, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Randy Winn.

If it wasn't for that hit with the bases loaded against the Cards, he'd have been hands down the worst hitting outfielder in the majors with more than 80 plate appearances.

I agree that Jones should not start.

Oh ok so now I understand. You are talking bout those "clutch" hits huh? You are talking about Jones on this post but your first post you talk about Murton not getting hits in meaningful situations. And as for Jones yea hes not the greatest but how can you say that he is last in RBI's for right fielders and the go on to say he is next to last in RBI chances? Wouldnt it be pretty hard to be high up on the list of RBI's for a right fielder, if you dont ever get any RBI chances?

I was referring to Jones all along. If I may word it correctly, "his bat does not compensate for Floyd's power or Murton's OBP, his hits come in meaningless situations and his arm is as accurate as my 3-year old peeing in the potty".

I'm one advocating to see Murton play regularly.

My three-year-old pees in the potty very accurately. But she's a girl. Does that mean Jones is a girl? Or that we need a girl in RF?

Only if she weighs as much as a duck.
