The Cubs want to see back-to-back outings and a two-inning stint from closer Ryan Dempster before the end of spring training, but time is running short. Dempster pitched a scoreless inning Tuesday in his first outing since a knot in his right shoulder caused him to miss a week.

"We can start Opening Day tomorrow," Dempster said. "I'm ready."

Piniella scrunched his face when he heard that comment.

"And it'll be 86 degrees in Cincinnati, and we're going to be drinking pina coladas," Piniella said. "He needs a little more work."

But Piniella isn't concerned about Dempster's lack of innings.

"The difference between Dempster and Woody is Woody hasn't done this job, and Dempster has," Piniella said

Funny stuff! I sure do like Lou's presence in the clubhouse.

Hahaha.

Teddy Bear Lou is almost completely gone, and the season hasn't even started yet 8-)

What's the over/under on # of games before Lou's first big blowup? I'll go 50. That'll get us safely past the honeymoon period.
