Dempster contributing to Lee

Ryan Dempster, like Michael Barrett, is contributing to DLee's Project 3000 to fight LCA.

 

Dempster is making a $50,000 donation to teammate Derrek Lee's Project 3000 and will contribute $1,000 for every save in 2007.

"I'm actually going to do more than Michael," Dempster said. "I'm going to do $100,000 for every home run I hit."

"For me it was easy -- I've known Jada since she was a baby, and I've known D-Lee for 10 years," he said. "It's a great opportunity to help."

 

When Dempster first told Lee about his donation plan, Lee gave him a hug and told him how much he appreciated it.

That is awesome. Dempster has always been easy to talk to when he has been in Denver. Of course that is his home also so it makes it a lil easier. He has a big white dodge he would pull up to the team hotel in.

It was a game in St. Louis in 2005, televised by FOX. Dempster was miked up in the bullpen. Early in the game, he was jawing with some Cardinals fans heckling him in the bullpen; I specifically remember him saying back, "Oh, sure, we're great down here. We got some cool towels, cold water, some St. Louis girls fanning us with palm leaves. You should come down some time, hang out."

 

Later in the game (or it might have been the next day; I'm not sure), he did impressions of Joe Buck describing David Eckstein and Tim McCarver congratulating Ryno on his HoF induction. Neither announcer was particularly pleased with being mocked, but who cares, it was hilarious. :lol:
