So far he's been looking pretty good in spring training. He's been injured for a couple of years but he has the stuff and in the past put up mid 3 era in a full season.

Per Rotoworld:

Kip Wells pitched three scoreless innings and struck out three Tuesday versus the Twins.

Adam Wainwright went five innings his last time out and Braden Looper threw 4 2/3 innings, but Wells was limited to three innings for the second straight start. He's yet to allow a run in eight innings this month.

Kip has always been one of those guys that I've said...."if you get him a good pitching coach........" He did have a good year to year and a half in Pittsburgh, but he's like Matt Clement. Very good arm, very good potential...late bloomer who needs the right coach to bring it out of him.

On the downside, if he does turn the corner, he probably doesn't have the stuff anymore to be effective for more than 2-3 years ala Clement.

He was an enigma here.

He had that great year, I think it was '03? 6th best ERA in the NL.

We thought he was going to be a Staff Ace for years to come.

Then the broken finger in '04. Yeah, he pitched the whole year, but..

I forget waht '05 was. Some other injury.

Then, last year with the blood clot thing.

I hope he makes it. I doubt he will.
