When do teams usually trade during Spring Training?

I was wondering when teams usually trade during ST? When did the Cubs trade for Lee...was that during the ST time period? Willis for Clement, was that during this time period?

I think it's probably during the second half of March, once they've got a pretty good idea of what they have and what their needs are, and after the injuries start to pile up.

 

 

The Cubs traded for Lee in November. They got Clement and Alf right at the end of the spring.

Look at the last week of ST. By then a team has 26 or 27 guys that could make a roster and they will be lost if they are sent through waivers. Or the converse they have a hole through injury or a guy not stepping up to take a spot.

I'm guessing this question has Jacque Jones in mind, and as others have said, I would not look for anything until relatively late in ST when teams are close to their final roster.

In addition, ST injuries are a factor.
