I have to say I wasn't so hot about the Piniella signing at first but the more I lsten to him and him saying all the right things, the more I like him for the job. I would love to see him lose his cool and snap at the umps though, I love that kind of drama ha ha. I

m really starting to be more positive about this year the more I hear Lou and the the team being healthy. It's such a treat for me not seeing Dusty here. I couldn't stand so many things about him.

First: The biggest impacf so far by Piniella is the fact that all but 4 players on the 40 showed up early led by Soriano, which  the bejeezus out of me.

Second: Like a couple of posters said before, i will reserve my judgement on Lou until the competition starts. But if he manages the game, the same way he is spitting out these quotes, then this COULD be a very GOOD yr. And I don't mean a Russell Crowe movie.

This guy is going to be one hell of an interview day after day. We're loving it.

seriously, from the interviews that i've heard so far, he sounds like the master of cliche. that might just be until he gets a feel for the team, though.

ps-bruce, you should be on the score more. mully and hanley at least seem like they're beginning to get it. murph has his moments but seems to forget that he's had guys like steve goldman on his show.

I think it's all the jokes that Piniella throws in there that makes him a great interview, not necessarily the baseball concepts he brings up.

Let's face it, Piniella's delivery is kind of boring so from a media perspective (he may be pleasant to deal with but) he's not very entertaining overall. The Score guys have been talking all week about his penchant for cliches. Actions are more important than words. I think when it comes down to it he will make the right decisions the majority of the time.

Lou is starting to sell me on him and what he can do with this team. I don't know if he'll be successful, but he's got me thinking more positively...and considering how low this team had me, that's saying something.
