The Boston Red Sox and J.D. Drew finally resolved their wrangling over a five-year, $70 million contract, more than seven weeks after agreeing to everything except what to do about the outfielder's surgically repaired right shoulder.

If the Sox can $talk Clemens into signing with them they will have a very nice team even if they don't trade for Helton.

If they do sign Clemens and then add Helton? Shhheeez!

I don't want to focus too much on Helton on this thread but I think he would be a very good 2 hitter if he's healthy, especially the way the Sox play the game. I would still love to see the Jays take first in the division!

If you think about it, this team could easily be a heck of a hitting team but they could also trun into the Cubs have have a plethora of injuries.

I heard on the radio that the Sox have an out clause if Drew is perpetually injured.

I've also heard that the Rockies are saying the Helton talks are off- presumably because the Sox wanted to give them Lowell and Tavarez and the Rockies wanted good players instead.

It definitely appears that the Sox were trying to bully the Rox on that Helton deal. Lowell and Tavarez is a joke, unless they're taking on all $90M left on Helton.

The out-clause on Drew's contract is only for the final two years, I think. It also only deals with his shoulder. If he injures anything else, the Red Sox would not be able to terminate the contract.
