From a recent tidbit on MLB's hotstove page:

OF Trot Nixon, Red Sox

Jan. 12: The Pirates, who ahd expressed interest, are not one of two teams Nixon has been negotiating with this week, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Red Sox essentially cut ties with Nixon by not offering arbitration after he made $6.5 million last season, allowing teams to sign him without surrendering draft picks. The Indians, Phillies, Orioles, Cubs and A's also might be interested.

Hendry is always looking for the next Troy O'Leary. His back injury has me worried and now that you can't take the good drugs to make you better I'd have to pass on Mr. Nixon.

No thanks, I'd rather have Floyd, strangely enough.

Of course, it's kind of like picking a broke down Cavalier over a broke down Chevette. Either way it's a bad decision.
