From Rotoworld:

Royce Clayton-SS-Reds Nov. 29 - 6:54 pm et

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Blue Jays and Royce Clayton have agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Well, we like Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett better from a fantasy perspective with Clayton at shortstop and Aaron Hill at second base. That's about the only nice thing we can say about this, though. Clayton is only an average defender these days and he's not much more than John McDonald with the bat. Unless they somehow make Clayton a backup later on, the Jays have severely damaged their chances of going to the playoffs.

The problem with Izturis isn't even so much his offensive inability. It is the Cubs tendency last year to maximize the weakness of Izturis/Perez. I am fine with them being on the roster as the 25th man getting 120 PAs during the year and used as a defensive replacement or late game defensive replacement or double switch member. I am fine with that as a solution. I am not fine with these types of players being used for 400+ PAs per year and getting into 120 games.

Hopefully Piniella doesn't have the same types of "pets" or has a better choice in them than Baker did.
