I'll take Bruce's word for it. If character is an issue, I don't want Nevin.

I thought Nevin was a good clubhouse guy? Maybe he doesn't like the press all that much. If that is the case, then I don't blame Nevin at all.

Yeah, I think Bruce's thing was that Nevin had a very haughty attitude with reporters. He mentioned Nevin having the "I'm a jock, you're not" kind of thing going on".

The only other thing I've heard about Nevin is that he tends to gripe if he's not a regular.

If he didn't gripe about being benched for John Freaking Mabry half the time (and there's nothing to suggest he did), I can't imagine he'd be complaining about sitting behind DLee.

I can actually speak somewhat knowledgeably on the subject of Phil Nevin. When we took out trip to Chicago this summer, we happened to meet Phil at THe lodge. HE was a nice guy--talked to us for about 2 hours and drank a few beers--actually that was the worst thing about him--he let us school teachers buy him beer after beer and never offered to get us a round :-k Anyways, he made it clear that he still thought he could be a starter in the league and he did not want to come back to CHicago in a reserve role. I am not saying that the market will not dictate this as his only option, but it is his goal to get an everyday job somewhere

Funny and true ending to the story--as we were leaving I said--we would love to have you back next year--you are the type of role player we need/ HE said--I really want to start somewhere.... (now remember--I am half in the bag at this time) and I say--like where--Pittsburg or KC??

THe next morning when the boys and I rehashed the story I realized how that probably came out bad but I really was just curious where he thought he could start :D

Anyways, that is my Phil Nevin Story!

Heck, for buying him the beers, you should be allowed to say what you want :D
