We mentioned all of the usual suspects when it comes to trades, but I have another name that Hendry ought to look at-----Michael Young. He was in the dog house late last year and would be a tremendous pickup. I'm suggesting Izturis, Marshall, plus ??? for Young. Young and Izturis make about the same money, so money shouldn't be a problem on either side. The Rangers have a few good pitching prospects along with a potent offense, so adding a defensive SS and a left-handed pitcher who appears to be major league ready might do the trick. Any thoughts?

With the change in managers, Young is likely staying.

Wouldn't hurt to inquire. Re-sign ARam, put Soriano in CF, Young at SS, and all of a sudden your offense looks a whole lot better. Then you go after the pitching problems.

IIRC, his natural position is 2B so we could put him there also. His production would be very nice at either position though.

No he is a SS and not to bad a glove guy that can hit a little bit. He switched to 2B when the Rangers picked up ARod. Before that he was the Rangers SS of the future and pretty well thought of by the BA folks.

I believe he is regarded as one of the worst defensive ss in the league. Not that I care abou that.

That's right. I knew he switched between the two but couldn't remember which was his natural position. Thanks for the correction.

How to you propose we get Micheal Young. Offensively hes one of the best at SS in the league. and dont give me a young picther and isturis that wont work.

Murton (or Prior) and Izturis plus a mid-level pitching prospect would be possible depending on what other moves Hendry makes.

yes he is. First off Prior hasnt pitched in a full season for the last three years. as right of right now hes not worth anything unless he proves it again. Secondly Pie hasnt been moved up and theyve been talking about him for the last two years. Last time I checked hes batting like .260 in Triple a. Remember when the oroiles wouldnt deal Tejada for Prior and Pie yeah I proved my point with my last statements. Now Young isnt Tejeda level, but hes much better Izturis and they be giving up one of the best SS in baseball with a iffy pitcher, prospect that shows promise but hasnt proved it, and a good feilding, but horrible hitting SS.

Aramis Ramirez, IMO, will sign w/the Cubs. ARod would be nice if we could get him for, as suggested in another thread, Gallagher, Pie, Guzman (to Marlins) and Demptster and Dontrelle Willis (from Marlins) to the Yankees. That deal would be great, but is unlikely. Tejada would be nice for a similar, probably lower, pricetag. Although I like both of them, Prior and Murton (either/or, not both in the same deal) would be replaceable via FA (Soriano, Lee for LF/Saito or another #5). IF we could find a way to get ARod/Tejada at SS, Young would look even better at 2B.

Prior has never pitched a full season.

one flaw in all these trade ideas.... no one wants any of our players...we do not have anyone that is good.

sorry but in the offseason you are not going to get a top flite major leaguer for a prospect. not when there are free agents around. we have a couple pitchers that might have some value but who is going to take hill for a big bat? at the deadline maybe but look at what pierre cost us in prospects for a year! and i don't see anyone dumping salary this offseason.

we have 0 postition players with trade value not even pie....

He made 30 starts and threw 211 innings in 2003.

He was on the DL that year too. Which means he has never pitched in a full season without being hurt.

Plenty of people who aren't hurt throw less than 30 starts or 211 IP. It's really nitpicking to say he didn't pitch a full season.

So he was drafted in 2001 and he's kind-of pitched one full big league season. I think that qualifies as a big-time bust. Especially since it looks like he yet AGAIN won't pitch a full season in 2007. I know I'm ready to cut the cord with the guy.
