Hawks won 3-1 as they scored three unanswered to win the game. Smolinski netted a shorty in the 2nd to tie the game at 1, Bondra scored his 500th goal in the 3rd, and Seabrook added an insurance goal late in the 3rd.

With the win, the Hawks are only one point out of 8th and they play the Avalanche tomorrow, the team that is currently in 8th.

Reminds me of the Bulls two seasons ago. Had to claw their way into a playoff spot, and finally they were 1/2 game back of Philly, and low and behold, they were playing Philly next. They demolished them and took the 8th seed away. Let's hope it happens to the Hawks tonight.

That was last season, not two year's ago. The team two year's ago had no trouble getting into the playoffs as they had the 3rd best record in the East.

Actually I am referring to two years ago. When the Bulls started 0-9, they had a long way to crawl back to get into playoff contention. In Early January they stood at 14-18, while I think Philly was 15-19 or something. The Bulls killed Philly by like 30 points to improve to 15-18. The reason I made the connection is because the Bulls that season and the Hawks this season are relatively at the same points of their seasons and both started out rather bad (although the Hawks started out hot but lost a bunch in a row and fell into a hole)

Ah, all right. Well last year's Bulls team was in 9th with Philly at 8th in March and they played each other two games in a row. Philly beat us at the UC by around 20 the first game, but we went into their place and won, which tied us for 8th at the time. Philly faltered down the stretch and we played our best basketball of the year and got in as the 7th seed.

Your comparison makes more sense though as both the Bulls from two years ago and the Hawks now are flirting with the 8th spot much earlier in the season than the Bulls from last year.

Hawks fall 3-2 to the Avalanche tonight. Another solid effort, but they were certainly tired and seemed to run out of gas in the 2nd, and in some of the 3rd they looked sluggish, not to mention the flu bug is going around the locker room right now, and currently Havlat and Hamilton have it. Cullimore managed to knock a puck into his own net as well -- pretty much sums up his season.

Reminded me of the Karpotzev own goal a few years back.[/b]

Reminded me of that one as well.

It was pretty bad. IIRC Potsie was trying to fire it around the boards behind the net after the Hawks won a faceoff. I don't think Thibault (I assume it was him) had a chance to react. The worst part about Cully's is that Khabibulin was able to react, just a bit late and it beat him on the glove side, that made it look so much worse. Oh well, when I come back from the Dominican on January 13th I expect the Hawks to be sitting pretty.

I decided to attend tonight's game, the Hawks beat Dallas 2-1. Arkhipov had a good game, a nice goal on the PP to give the Hawks the lead, and then another PP goal off a slapshot that actually was credited to Lapointe. Khabibulin had another strong effort, came up big in the 3rd when Dallas swarmed the goal a few times. Crowd of about 14,000+ tonight, and had some pretty good energy, gave Khabby a standing O in the 3rd after some nice saves. This team just continues to roll...

Was it easy to get tickets? I was thinking of attending Friday night's game against the Bruins with some of my friends...probably sit in the cheap student section.

Haven't seen a Hawks game in AGES...

Yep, just walked up and got 'em in the 300 level, where the real fans are.

It sure is a good idea to check them out right now...Friday's game should be good as well, an Original Six matchup, and there should be a good sized crowd. Not to mention the Blackhawks are playing awesome hockey right now.

Hawks fall to the Blue Jackets 2-1 tonight. Just a plain lack of offense for this team right now. Havlat has no goals in his last 5 games and was pretty invisible tonight. I think Tallon has to do something to bring in some scoring, they really struggled to get the puck on net tonight.

They're starting to drop games now.

The Savard honeymoon is over. Now is when we discover if Savard will survive as coach.

Final was 3-1; Columbus netted an empty netter with 5 seconds left.

These two teams have a lot of tension as evident by the fights, and much more aggression than normal. We got hosed on a few calls, but still, our offensive ineptitude cost us this one.

I think they'll recover as the New Year begins, but there are some serious problems they need to remedy. One is team toughness. This team is probably the softest in the league, they got pushed around tonight, and we end up seeing Duncan Keith (at 6 feet, 193 pounds) try to take on some russian Svitov (6'3, 217) in a fight, and while I credit Keith for having the balls to do that, the Hawks need someone who's a real enforcer, and can hold in his own in a scrap. Vandermeer used to be able to do that, but has shown absolutely nothing this year.

Olcyzk really snapped on Vandermeer for not backing up Keith in that bout.

Ugh. After losing 2-0 to the Blues last night, the Hawks get pounded by the Predators, 8-3 at home. Khabibulin was pulled after 4 goals, and Brian Boucher proceeded to allow 4 more. To make matters worse, Havlat was scratched due to a groin injury, he will miss Sunday's game vs. Phoenix, and also is going to undergo an MRI.

Great. Just when you thought it was OK to be excited about Blackhawks hockey...

Have you guys given up on your BHawks. I had to go to page 5 to find this. Well anyway pretty boring first period. Well anyway go Wild.

Yep, I've pretty much given up on them. 5 losses in a row and they're back to their old ways. Things were getting real exciting for a while, but now it's the same old Hawks again.
