Savard's second game is another victory....5-2 Hawks over the Blues. Ruutu scores another on a nice wrister and continues to play well. Couldn't watch it but sounded like the Hawks dictated the play for the most part. They're now 9-12-2, things are improving, hopefully they can beat the Preds tomorrow night.

I saw it on TV down here; it was on FSN Midwest. We played a great 1st period, a decent 2nd period, and a pretty bad 3rd, but thankfully we came out with a W. The Blues were in complete control in the 3rd and Savard went to a "play it safe" strategy in the final period. It didn't really work considering the Blues got the lead down to 3-2 before we made a couple of empty netters to salt the Blues away.

A win over Nashville at Nashville would be impressive. Havlat is due back on Tuesday as well.

I guess the reports of Salmo being a hot topic between Tallon and Yawney might have been true. Since Yawney got the boot Salmo's scored his first 2 NHL goals, gotten a lot more ice, and looked like a legit scoring threat out there.

Do we still have a hockey team here in Chicago? I live only a few miles from the UC but can't be sure.

They're shy. They fly below the radar; it's good for profits.

Awesome comeback by the Hawks. And with Havlat coming back on Tuesday, who knows what can happen now?

This team is definitely coming around to Savard as well. Great to see.

The Blackhawks are actually playing decent since the coaching change. Hopefully my Wild who have be slumping can get a few victories against the Black Hawks next week.

Great win tonight. Nice play by Vrbata on the tying goal to set up Hamilton, and then Hamilton again in OT. I was surprised to see them pick up one point, let alone the W tonight. 3-0 under Savard and looking pretty good.

On the subject of Havlat, I don't know about him returning Tuesday. Olcyzk on the broadcast said that Marty is still feeling a little discomfort. Could still be a while before his return.

The boost they've gotten from Savard has to be encouraging though.

I always find it amazing how an off field change (or in this case, off ice) can have such an immediate impact.

But, on the other hand, often times the boost is short-lived. Hope that's not the case here. It's exciting right now in any case.

In this case, however, isn't the change also on ice, with a change in ice time, style and lines for many players? I'm not about to buy this as a completely changed team, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the improvement.

Khabibulin is quietly having an unbelievable season. his stats are right in line with his amazing Stanley Cup season, albeit a worst GAA due to the defenses tendancy to give up 40 shots per game.

only six points out of the seventh spot. although there are five teams to get over to get into that seventh spot, the Hawks have at least two games at hand on four of those five teams.

tomorrow nights game is huge as they play that seventh spot team.

This could get really exciting with Havlat coming back.

Do you guys go and see any of these games or are you protesting the ownership?

Khabibulin has been playing great lately. He has made some unbelievable glove saves in the last few games.

I still think the best thing they could do is trade him if they can get something of value. It's nice to see some of Tallon/Savard's ideas working since the change, but there's still no guarantee this team can keep this up all year. 4 teams remain between them and a playoff spot.

Hawks lose 3-2 in a shootout. The shootout went to six shooters with the Wild finally winning it on the 6th try. The Hawks scored two shootout goals to the Wild's three. At least we got a point out of it, but it was a game that we easily should've won.

The Hawks had some bad misses on the shootout. It seemed like they were shooting form too far away. With Havlat, the Hawks win that shootout. Still, they got a point so I am happy.

Are you crazy did you not see all those posts the Wild hit.

That's a garbage lost. In a shootout the puck is NOT allowed to go behind the shooter. ANd that was not a spin-o-rama, because the spin-o-rama is impossible in a shootout. The spin-o-rama is done in a real game situation to get around a very active defensemen, not a shootout where there's no pressure. So first the puck went behind the shooter, and then he plowed Habby, that's ridiculous.
