Has anyone noticed that Henry Blanco has gotten his BA up to .259? That is pretty remarkable considering he was hitting below .100 for quite a while. I guess nobody will confuse him for Johnny Bench, but his average is pretty good for a backup catcher (especially when you consider his defense).

I think he is a decent backup and if he could get his IsoP to a 260/330 I'd be happy with him as a starter if the Cubs had enough firepower for the rest of the lineup. I still want to see the young catchers get some time in though, especially if the Cubs are not going to keep Blanco around.

his defensive reputation is much better than his actual defense.

 

I've got him as being 12 runs above average last year and six so far this year... and Barrett at -11 and -17 in that same span. :sick:
