a quick look back shows me all i need to know about the cubs front office and the fact the have no clue and have no chance to fix this!

if aram leaves after this year..which no one would blame him for, we will have 0 position players left from the 2003 team- just 3 years ago- that was a handful of outs from going to and probably winning the series. hendry has remade this team. these are his players he has handpicked..he has no longer inherited any players...and really only 1 pitcher unless prior comes back.

after 2003 we needed an upgrade at ss and i felt an upgrade at closer...that was it. hendry did neither and in 3 years we went from-

2003-loftin cf, sosa rf,alou lf, rameriz 3b, gonzo ss,grudz 2b,simon/karros 1b,miller c...pitchers prior,clement,wood,z,and cruz...bullpen farns,remingler,veres,jobo,6 finger and guthrie

2006

pierre cf,jones rf,murton lf,rameriz 3b,cedeno/izturis ss,cedeno/theriot 2b,lee 1b, barrett c

pitchers z,marshall,guzman,hill,mateo...dempster,eyre,howry,wuertz, ohman, novoa

we have changed every position player including bench players except rameriz. we have a completely redone the bullpen and the starting rotation...yes there have been injuries there but hendry choose to depend on wood and prior despite their injury histories

we can blame dusty but tis is hendry's team!

Hendry is living off 3 transactions

The trade for Ramirez

The trade for D. Lee

Signing Michael Barrett.

3 Years since he has done something positive. 3 Years.

Its like that rookie that comes up from AA and hits .380 for 2 months.

We need to dump this guy ASAP.

MacPhail, Hendry, Baker, and coaching staff are the problem. All will need to go in order for us to climb up to respectability.

question...MacPhail came from Minnesotta right?

Why can't he transfer the Twins model over here?

Maybe the Cubs should just cut the payroll in half.

They spend big bucks but have no idea how to utilze it properly.

The problem is they spend big bucks on mediocre players and that's a fact. MacPhail's philosophy is to never sign the top free agent available because he feels it isn't necessary. Well, guess what? That type of management will not get you far. We should have a 100mil payroll. The Cubs are a bonified cash cow and the fans fill the stadium up. We should be able to compete with the best of them but when you have clowns running this organization what do you expect?

Yup. I have brought this up before as well, this team is getting

no shot in the arm from the minors.

Teams like the Twins are good teams in part because they have the Liranino's, Mornue's etc peform like All-Stars at bargain prices.

Heck even the Yankees have Cano who is making peanuts

The only bargain all star calibar player on the Cubs is Z.

even avg vets get 8+ mil a season now.

This team will contiue to assembe a team around 90 million that consits of

overpaid avg players

He traded for Barrett.

Correct.

but I thought there was some funny sign/trade transaction were

Barrett was an Oakland A for a bit.

Barrett went to Oakland for a minor league pitcher Brett Price. Then Michael join the Cubs and Damien went to the A's.

Looking at the A's, maybe they SHOULD had kept Barrett.

I think you're forgetting dumping Hundley and getting Grudzielanek and Karros. That was definitely a good trade.

Barrett was a trade as well-also, the trade for Nomar was a good trade-even though Nomar didn't work out for the team, it still netted us Murton for barely anything.
