how about the cubs pull a craig biggio and move him to second, where that offense would look real good, get clee to play left, let murton/jones platoon and pry away a brian mccann or ronny paulino, or even kendall(i know kendall is old, but fox shouldn't be that far away)?

There's no way anyone pries away Brian McCann.

we will have an excess of good young pitching this offseason.

The Braves will not be motivated to trade McCann. He's young, good, and cheap.

So unless we're willing to offer Marshall, Marmol, Paweleck, Guzman, Pie, Murton, Prior, Gallagher and maybe a few more, we should give it up.

Although Saltimachabachitamiko has struggled this year, the braves still probably have the best catching prospect in baseball, so after next year, they very well may be selling McCann.

I don't think it's such a horrible idea if you move him to left and replace him with a good hitting catcher.

Now, the following scenario assumes that Michael is capable of playing left.

Sign Bengie Molina

Sign Carlos Lee, or trade for a corner outfielder

Sign Alfonso Soriano.

Move Barrett to left

Move Jacque to center

Lineup would be

Soriano

Barrett

D-Lee

Aram

C-Lee

Jones

Molina

Izturis

Not bad. Molina would probably cost 5 million, Carlos Lee who the heck knows, and Soriano who the heck knows.

Ok, I don't get this.

First of all, that's a huge assumption to make.

Second, you already HAVE a good hitting catcher. Why move Barrett to LF, and get another good hitting catcher? Just get a LF and be done with it.

Cubs just traded Neifi Perez to the Tigers for a top 10 minor league prospect...who happens to be a catcher known for great defense.

Now what was that everyone was saying about Steve Stone losing his clairvoyance?

You're a little late to the party, Jerry.

True. "not such a horrible idea" is quite different from "the best idea ever!".

They'd most likely be better off getting Craig Wilson to play left, a big bat for RF, and moving Jacque to center.

I woul rather keep Barret at catcher and Ramirez at 3rd, and then spend money the way a big-market team should (wisely) to get a some top-notch help at second and left.

there's no reason the Cubs should be trying all kinds of exerimental moves to boost offense when they have the financial ability to go out and get top-notch players instead, and KEEP the above average players they already have.

Of course, this requires our GM to suddenly get a clue...so I expect to see Ramirez gone and Barret at 3rd next year anyway with two underperforming, overpaid, but athletic old guys playing at LF and 2B with a defensive-minded, no-stick catcher while murton and Cedeno either sit the bench or get traded for the afore-mentioned overpaid veterans.

so you're suggesting that the cubs are going to bring up this catcher from a ball to replace barrett?

And this cacther has reported to class A Daytona. I think Barrett's contract might be up before this guy sniffs the major leagues.

OK, my insane ideas are getting insane-ier.

Re-sign Aramis when he opts out and trade him and whoever else is needed to get A-Rod from the Yanks.

Move A-Rod to SS.

Throw a pile of money at Soriano and have him at 2nd.

Move Barrett to 3rd.

Sign Craig Wilson and platoon him with JJ in RF. At this point, I'd have no problem making Murton LF all the time. Offer Pierre arbitration and bring up Pie.

Seek out a catcher who isn't as awful as Barrett is defensively and can hit at at least a little better then Blanco. Bring up Fox.

MY VIDEO GAME VERSION OF THE CUBS IS TEH AWESOME!!1!!!11!!!1!!!1
