This will be Fabian Jiminez's first start for Peoria after being promoted from Boise and this will be 2006 10th rounder Jake Renshaw's first start for Boise after being promoted from Mesa. In Jose Ceda's last 24 IP (he has 29 IP on the season), he has an ERA of 1.50.

I hope Ceda turns out to be something, but right now his GO-FO tendencies really scare me. With the Padres his GO-FO ratio was 9-27, and with the Cubs it's 2-5. He's had good K/BB numbers, and his OPS against is good too but eventually players will start hitting balls where the fielders aren't. His BABIP against is .300 is average I'd say, but I don't see how he'll be able to keep giving up this many flyballs and not get punished for it somewhere down the road.

Juan Mateo and Rich Hill managed to survive having unusually high GO-FO ratios. As long as Ceda doesn't give up much in the way of linedrives and can strike guys out at a really good rate, he'll be fine.

Congrats to the new promotees! :D

I don't necessarily that's too concerning right now...I'm more interested in seeing his development of an offspeed pitch.

Felix Pie leads off the Iowa game with a solo HR on the first pitch! It was to right center and is his 11th of the year.

But Memphis lights up Jerome Williams in the first:

Leadoff single.

RBI double, game tied at 1.

BB, runners at first and second.

RBI single, runners at the corners. Memphis up 2-1.

RBI double, runners at second and third. Memphis up 3-1.

RBI IF single, runners at the corners. Memphis up 4-1.

K looking, 1 out.

BB.

Pitcher Ks swinging, 2 outs.

FO-9.

Jerome: 1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 35 pitches (23 strikes)

Fabian Jiminez is struggling in his return to the MWL and Peoria is down 7-2 in the middle of the 2nd.

Jesse Estrada is in for the third inning, so Jiminez's final line is: 2 IP, 7 ER, 6 H, BB, HBP, K.

Jerome Williams gives up a solo HR to Junior Spivey, and then works around a 2-out single and walk. Iowa is down 5-1 after 2.

Jerome: 2 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 2 K.

Does anyone know where I can find the requirements for MiLB's gameday? I just downloaded Mozilla Minefield and for some reason all I get is a black page now.

Thank you Serena. Apparently Flash Player 8 wasn't good enough, even though MiLB says that 7 and up is good. I just downloaded Flash 9.0 and everything works just fine.

Iowa down 8-1 in the 5th. Jerome: 3 IP, 6 ER, 10 H, 3 BB, 3 K.
Williams isn't pitching like someone who wants to earn his way back to the majors. I'm not sure he even warrants a callup when the rosters expand in September.

He had been doing much better until his last couple of starts.

Iowa lost 11-2. Williams' final line: 3 IP, 10 hits, 6 ER's, 3 walks, 3 K's. Hugo Castellanos went 3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 ER's, 2 walks, and struck out 5. Chavez pitched 2 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 ER, 0/0 K/BB. Iowa only had 4 hits total...Pie's solo homer in the 1st, McGehee's 2/3 day, including a double, and Ojeda had a single.

Peoria is down 8-5 in the 9th. YUSUF and Lilly each have homered for the Chiefs.

Ed Campusano was taken out of the game with 2 outs, no one on, in the bottom of the 14th with an apparent injury. Carlos Vasquez in. Still tied 1-1.

I crack up every time I hear that the Jaxx' trainer is Matt Johnson...I have a close friend with the same name and could never picture him as a trainer.

To the 15th we go...this is a great way to start a doubleheader...

Still 1-1 as we go to the top of the 19th inning in Jacksonville. The Suns are out of relievers and will have to use position players on the mound the rest of the way (unless they dip in to their starters). Starting catcher AJ Ellis will be pitching now (he already threw once earlier this year, giving up 1 ER in 2.1 innings).

Top of the 19th:

Fox HBP on a "56 mph pitch."

Weston singles, Fox to second.

Wild pitch on a "49 mph pitch." Fox to third, Weston to second.

Sing pops out to CF Adam Greenberg. 1 out.

Negron IBB, bases loaded. Ron called the IBB pitches "lolipops."

Rojas flies out to Greenberg, Fox scores, Weston to third. Jaxx lead 2-1! Two outs.

Brownlie flies out to RF.

In the middle of the 19th, West Tenn leads it 2-1!

Bottom of the 19th, Brownlie pitching:

Gutierrez singles to RF.

Dewitt grounds out, 3-1. Gutierrez to second, 1 out.

Ellis singles to RF, Gutierrez scores to tie the game at 2. Ellis out at 2nd on a great throw by Negron. 2 outs.

Bruce strikes out swinging.

To the 20th we go, tied at 2. And remember, game 2 of the doubleheader is right after this game...
