For all the people that are hoping that Carlos Lee is a potential free agent and that the Cubs go after him. A case could be made that Jim Edmonds is still a better player. I would even go as far as saying by the end of the year will have a similar ops. I dont think anyone is going to offer him 15 million a year. Carlos Lee is going to be way overpaid and someone is going to regret it in a couple of years

 

Jim Edmonds as a Cub = heresy

 

That is like Johnny Damon becoming a Yankee. :shock:

Well, I doubt that Edmonds will have a similar OPS unless something major happens (he's about 60 points behind right now). I also think that those two players are completely different-Edmonds is 36, while Lee is 30. It still doesn't derail your point though that Lee will be overpaid-if he's looking for 5/75 that will be overpaying him by a pretty large margin. Not as much as the Furcal contract, but still overpaying.
