Iowa down 2-0 after 5 now. Bass still throwing a perfect game.

Colvin with an RBI single to score Matt Mattulia from 2nd. Tyler is now 2/4 with a single, double, a run, an RBI and a SB. Boise now leads it 5-1. Clevenger and Canzler can't do anything and we go to the bottom of the 6th, Boise leading 5-1.

Pawelek's night is indeed done. His final line is:

5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, BB, HBP, 2 WPs, 6 Ks, 84 pitches (54 strikes), 2 GOs, 5 FOs.

On the season, he's got this stat line (ignore MiLB.com and BA, they have mistaken Pawelek twice this season so their stats aren't correct): 26.1 IP, 3.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, .225 BAA, 23 Hs, 22 BBs, 9 HBP, 5 WPs, 12 Ks.

LHP Jason Ruhlman now in for Boise.

How long til the corner OFs at Boise get moved up? (Colvin and Joseph)

Colvin, although he started poorly, has been on fire, and Joseph's been doing it all year.

Colvin should probably get called up within the next few weeks. I think Alfred Joseph will stay at Boise all season.

Spokane scores one off Ruhlman on a triple (nearly a fantastic play by Camp to catch that) and a double all with 2 outs.

Now an RBI single by Haefner (Colvin almost threw the guy out at home) and Haefner advances to second on the throw. Boise now up 5-3 with 2 outs in the 6th.

Sounds like he's living dangerously; I'd really like to see that 12/22 K/BB ratio improve. It seems like he gave up quite a few sharp hits and line outs tonight, any idea what his GO-FO ratio looks like for the season?

Before today's start, his GO-FO was 41-28.*

Keep in mind, he was much worse before his last two starts. Hopefully he's figured something out and keeps it going past the last 10 innings (1 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, HBP, 11 K, 8 GO, 9 FO).

*Stats from minorleaguesplits.com, which are based on the MiLB.com splits which are incorrect for Pawelek because they were off in 2 of his appearances.

Tucson adds a third run.

Casey McGehee has gotten a second Iowa single. Then, in the 7th, Deardorff singles, Hoffpauir walks and Soto gets an RBI double to make it 3-1!

Tucson is up 3-1 after 7. O'Malley: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 R, BB, 96 pitches (61 strikes).

-------------

Jeremy Papelbon coming in here in the 7th for Boise after the leadoff hitter gets on against Rulhman.

Papelbon gets a K and a FC (near GIDP) so far. Sorry, I stepped away to watch Lewis Black on the Daily Show. While I was gone, Spokane scored one time and there are runners at the corners. Papelbon gets the K to end the inning!

Boise is up 5-4 after 7.

Deardorff singled, Hoffpauir walked, and Soto drove in Deardorff on an RBI double to start the 8th for Iowa. Montanez pinch hitting as Tucson makes a pitching change.

Iowa scored one more in the 8th, thanks to an error that allowed Montanez to reach.

With one out in the 9th, Buck Coats doubled, followed by Deardorff reaching on another error; this time by Casey Daigle. Hoffpauir then hit an RBI single to tie the game at 3 :) Still 2 on for the I-Cubs with only 1 out in the 9th.

Colvin fouls out, he ends up going 2/5.

To the bottom of the 9th we go, Papelbon is still in there and Boise is up 5-4.

Napoli Ks to open up the bottom of the 9th!

Bah, Gentry with a line single barely past a leaping Mattulia. Mound visit.

Killian flies out to Colvin in LF. Two outs.

Chad Tracy due up, Michael Cooper will come in to replace Papelbon for the R-R matchup.

Papelbon: 2.2 IP, 0 R (1 inherited run scored), 2 H, BB, 5 K, runner at first is his responsibility.

And to the bottom of the 9th we go in Tucson. Ligtenberg in for the I-Cubs with the score all tied up at 3.

Wow! 26/9 K/BB ratio for him now in 22IP. The 0.77 WHIP and 0.82 ERA aren't too bad either

Cooper vs Tracy:

Ball 1 high.

Bloop single to RF, Gentry to third base.

Cooper vs. Marquardt:

Ball 1 outside.

Groundout to second, 4-3! Boise wins 5-4 and Mark Pawelek gets his first professional win.

Congrats Mark!

Ligtenberg got by Tucson in the 9th. After giving up a leadoff single to Robby Hammock, he then got a force out and struck out the final 2 batters to end the 9th. Iowa's offense went 3 up, 3 down in the top of the 10th. Walrond is now on to pitch the bottom of the 10th.

Wow, what a 10th by Walrond. He gave up a leadoff triple to Donnie Sadler. After getting a strike out, they intentionally walked the next batter to get to Chris Young. Young flew out to shallow RF and Sadler could not score from home. The runner at 1st did tag up to 2nd however. They then put on Scott Hairston with an intentional walk before finally getting Robby Hammock to ground into a force out to end the inning.

So after all that, the game is still tied as they head to the 11th in Tucson :)

Walrond's "masterful" 11th: Groundout to the pitcher, single, HBP, force out at 2nd...runners at 1st and 3rd. Donnie Sadler took 2nd on defensive indifference. Walrond then walked Chris Carter loading the bases for Alberto Callaspo. He grounded out to short to end the inning.

Uh, nice job Les

And the pitcher, Walrond, singles to keep the top of the 12th alive.

If Soto hadn't hit into that DP, the I-Cubs could have had something going. Augie Doggy at the plate now...
