Probable Starters:

West Tenn: RHP Sean Gallagher (5-2, 2.45 ERA, 40.1 IP, 41/26, 1.49 WHIP) @ RHP Josh Hall (5-3, 3.66 ERA)

Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (6-6, 4.68 ERA, 98 IP, 76/46, 1.56 WHIP) vs. LHP Eric Fowler (7-8, 3.94 ERA)

Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (8-3, 4.59 ERA, 104 IP, 44/48, 1.47 WHIP) @ LHP Erik Averill (5-4, 3.63 ERA)

Boise: RHP Jose Pina (1-2, 4.08 ERA, 28.2 IP, 10/8, 1.15 WHIP) vs. LHP Shane Dove (1-3, 1.15 ERA)

Mesa: RHP Oscar Bernard (1-3, 3.77 ERA, 14.1 IP, 8/7) & RHP Robert Hernandez (2-0, 2.25 ERA, 16 IP, 9/5)

*Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitchers from the rotation to the pen with frequency.

Peoria pitchers will get a chance to face one of the baseball's top prospects in Cameron Maybin.

Three Mesa pitchers combine to 1-hit the A's and Mesa wins 5-3. Hernandez got the win, improving his mark to 3-0, as he pitched 5 innings of 1 hit ball, allowing 3 unearned runs, 3 BB's, and striking out 2. Bernard pitched 2 perfect innings and struck out one. Platt earned his first save of the season as he pitched 2 innings, only allowing 2 walks and struck out one. Jeremy Williams was 2/3 with a double, a HR, 2 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. Cory Vanderhook was 2/4 with an RBI and a run scored. Francisco Tirado was 3/4 with an RBI. Valerio Heredia went 1/3 with a triple, a walk, and a run scored. Lisandro Rosario was 1/4 with a run scored, and Luther Murphy had 2 walks and stole a base.

Big game for the Jaxx tonight to say the least. Let's hope Lord Charles makes a ton of appearances.

If I'm not mistaken Lord Charles/Uncle Charlie is Gallagher's good curve, is it not?

Thanks. I checked the game log. Kid Hernandez had perfect innings in 3 of his 5 inning, had a strong 10/3 GB/FB ratio, his only hit allowed was an infield job, and he didn't strike out a soul until the last two outs of his day.

I didn't hear the audio (Serena or Ron can confirm), but I was told that Ron was impressed with Sean's curve one night to the point of naming it Lord Charles.

July 27th's game against Chattanooga is going to be HUGE for West Tenn.

Chattanooga will be trotting out the friggin' cannon that is Homer Bailey. Homer's arguably the top pitching prospect in the minors right now and has been pitching like a man possessed in AA. His current numbers with Chattanooga:

5 GS, 4-0, 30.2 IP, .88 ERA, 3 ER, 17 H, 31/6 K/BB

That's right, a .75 WHIP.

he's the real deal. we saw him last year at Dayton. Impressed me enought that in the big Keeper league I'm in, my co-owner and I took him with our first minor league pick this season...and we took Sean in the 2nd round....which puts them in our 5 player stable with Delmon Young, Brandon Wood, and Thomas Diamond...

Nice group you got there. 8)

Don't expect Bailey up this season, though. Reds GM Wayne Krivsky has been adamant in saying that he will not promote Homer above AA this season since Homer needs more work on getting consistency with his curveball and changeup. He's going to pitch more innings this season than he has in his entire professional career, to boot.

He'll be a heck of a popular pick for NLROY next season, though.

Miguel Negron was replaced by Brandon Sing in RF between innings and the Lookouts broadcasters are convinced that Negron is either getting promoted or has been traded.

Sounds like it's speculation vs. a rumor, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Sheesh. What kind of big keeper league are you in where Young & Wood were available in the 3rd and 4th rounds?!?

Gallagher still having AA control problems: 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K.

Daytona up 10-5 on Dunedin after 5. Bronder, not Berg, started the game for Daytona. The D-Cubs have scored 10 runs without an extra basehit yet.

Peoria down 4-3 to Western Michigan in the 6th. Chirinos has a solo HR. Blackford: 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R (2 ER), 6 K, 4 BB

no no....We drafted Young 2 years ago and Wood last year....you dont have to protect MILB guys until they hit the rookie minimum...but you can never have more than 5...we draft at the start of the season and again at the MLB all-star break...this year we had to promote Reyes and Markakis...

Ahh...That makes a lot more sense.

3/6 K/BB ratio through 5 now and he's only allowed 1 run. Even with the scary control problems, he's still got a nice 8-3 GO-FO ratio.

2 runs now.

Infield single, another single had runners at the corners, wild pitch scores a run.

Sac bunt, now runners at 2nd & 3rd, one out.

And a base hit makes it 4-1 Lookouts. Gallagher is out, Vazquez is in.

5.2 IPs, 7BBs, 3Ks, 4R, I think 7H but not sure, responsible for the baserunner on.

Sing is now out and Gary Cates is in for the doubleswitch.

I am sure Rothschild is somehow responsible for Gallagher's sudden lack of control! :P
