For some reason, Barrett doesn't qualify for the batting title as of right now. But if he did, he'd be 2nd in the NL in batting average.

He must average 3.1 plate appearances per game the cubs have played.

Starting the night, Barrett was 14 PA shy of qualifying.

One of the advertsing banners on this website is for CardsGear(St. Louis Cardinals). It just flashed at the top of the screen. That is the first time I have seen that before. Probably not going to sell much here.

There is a little known exception to the minimum 3.1 plate appearances per game (502 PA in a season---unless a game was cancelled), which is: if a hitter leads the league in batting and does not have sufficient plate appearances, BUT still leads the league in batting after imputing an 0-(#of plate appearances need to get to 502) to his ABs, he is awarded the batting title.

Get premium and you won't be subjected to that offensive content.

Maybe that is Tim's strategy.

Dempster has been pretty effective the last 3 weeks or so. Let's hope he's got 1 good inning in him tonight !!

CUBS WIN !! CUBS WIN !! CUBS WIN !!

That's what I get for watching the white Sox losing; decided to check in here and discovered I had missed a dramatic finish a la Dempster.

So should I stay up to watch the other Sox? I'll just make the coffee extra strong in the morning.
