In the first inning, Barret homered, Ramirez walked, Jones and Nevin douibled for 3 runs. Sorry, but I missed the bottom of the first.

Thanks Fred. I know you don't hear it enough, so I'll say it again, your play-by-play and stats are appreciated and really add to the game (sometimes the only enjoyment one can get).

Thanx for those kind words. I'd be doing pbp tonight except for the fact that I'm sitting in the truck at a loading dock in Elgin. Hopefully.... I'll be out of here shortly.

Wow, that's dedication.

No,.... I've been sitting here patiently waiting since noon today. Dedication is my loving wife who just stopped by and brought me some dinner !!

For those interested in future cub Arod (keep dreamin'), tonight in Texas he is 1-3 (5-3;1B to CF;FC) at the plate and has made the only two plays in the field he was involved in. Yanks lead Texas 4-2 after 5.

I frankly don't see how Arod can be traded (with his permission) during the season and besides, what would the cubs offer?

First time the CUBS have put up 5 in one inning since Sat 15 July against these Mets.

Go CUBS !!

Last time pierre stole a base before today?

He had one Friday night against the Nationals, and 2 in the game before that.

A win tonight for Maddux would be number 326 tying him with Eddie Plank for 12th all time. Next target is John Clarkson (pre-1900) @ 328; Steve Carlton is in 10th place with 329 wins. Number 9, Tim Keefe (another pre-1900), is 9th at 342 and I doubt Maddux ever gets there.

Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez are the color guys on the Mets broadcast tonight on MLB Extra Innings.

Anything that happens in the game leads into a story from one of those two about when they were playing.

A great defensive play? Hey Keith, what was the best defensive play you ever made?

A player gets hurt? Hey Ron, what did you do to rehab when you got hurt.

A fan eating a hot dog? Hey Ron and Keith, did you two ever eat hot dogs during that World Championship season?

Truly annoying.

Maddog is flat out of gas !!

If this was 10 years ago Maddux would have gotten that 3-2 call on Reyes.

Everyone wanted Wuertz brought up, let's see what he can do in a tight spot here - need to throw strikes!
