Seriously, do ESPN and Fox ever give any thought to bringing in announcers who actually know a thing or two about baseball? I mean, can't we have guys call the game who aren't mugging for camera and microphone time? Wouldn't it be nice if they let the game do the talking?

It'd be awesome if MLB would start a channel that shows baseball games with no announcers; just the sounds of the game and the crowd.

The network execs have no idea how to distinguish between a good announcer and a bad announcer because in general they don't know the game. So these networks end up hiring announcers that the past network that aired baseball had. Tim MCCarver has been on ABC, CBS, and Fox in terms of national broadcasting. How he didn't end up getting the gig at NBC in the mid nighties is a mystery. They assume well since he was all those places he must be good.

Now I know Scrap Iron is the manager for the NL but it almost looks like a Dusty lineup. the lineup is full of free swingers and low OBP people, except for Puljos and Rollins

Garner didn't select the starters.

Ya, I know but putting soriano as a lead off man, that was his decision.
