I still enjoy the all-star game. It doesn't hurt anything, and it's fun for the fans.

I hate the home-field provision, though. How the World Series could possibly come down to an at-bat in July between a Devil Rays pitcher and a Pirates hitter just infuriates me to no end.

Because the fact that giving HFA to one league because it's an odd-numbered year instead of an even-numbered year on the calendar is SO MUCH more appropriate??

I think it's cool that the game means something. Frankly, I don't think it hurts a thing.

And "This Time It Counts" isn't the promo that they use anymore. That slogan only lives because posters on message boards keep bringing it up over and over again.

Give it to the team with the better record. Isn't that why you play the regular season, to determine HFA? Whoever has the better record between the two World Series participants gets the HFA regardless of whether one team won the WC and the other won their division. Best record gets WS HFA.

Dan Patrick suggested this on the radio today and it seems to make sense. Give home field advantage to the league that has the best interleague record.

I remember reading about the debate about best record and MLB said something that it would increase the number of cities where they need 10,000 hotel rooms on short notice from 4 to 7. I don't understand why they wouldn't need rooms in the cities of the other team???

I don't think HFA should be tied to the outcome of an exhibition game. Any other solution would be better. Tie it to best record. Tie it to the league that performs better in interleague play. Tying it to the result of an exhibition is ridiculous.

Many pundits believe that this is the case because FOX is pushing for it so that they can say the game means something. Personally, I think it's ridiculous.

I never once said the every other year thing was appropriate either. Please don't put words in my mouth.

I think it should be tied to best regular season record. If they want to make the ASG mean something, have like a $3 million purse or so to be split among the winning team, or a charity decided upon by the winning team. Nothing motivates like money.

I think it would be cool to have it at a neutral site. Like they do for the College World Series at Rosenblatt in Omaha. Build an awesome facility in Iowa somewhere and name it the "Field of Dreams" or something like that. I know it would never fly because there is too much money to be made by the Teams participating in attendance, merchandise, and concessions by not having it in their own cities.

I vote for this idea. Please put it in the Iowa City area.

The all star game or the world series?

I don't care what they do with the AS game, it's meangingless garbage. Hopefully it gets rained out tonight.

If it's the WS, don't you still have to address HFA even with a neutral site due to the different rules in each league. Now what you can do is go to a neutral site and abolish the DH.....
