As cool as it is that Liriano was named, there's no way Ozzie will pitch him (sad, but true).

Yeah, b/c he doesn't want to be accused of screwing them over to help the White Sox.

I don't know what you mean.

He won't throw him because he's a rookie. Ozzie will probably stick with the vets.

Ozzie in the Sun-Times this morning:

''I have to be careful because if I use some pitchers too much, people will say, 'Ozzie is overworking those pitchers to help the White Sox.''

Gotcha. He really did put himself in that position though with all the comments he's made.

Well this is why he needs to shut up and why he'll never be a succesful manager. Here's the link to the rest of the article BTW:

He's a MLB manager and the team he's currently managing just went and won the WS for the first time in almost under a century under his watch. Sounds pretty "successful" to me.

WOW!! Winning the World Series does not automatically make you a succesful manager and give you a free ride to do whatever you want

Don't tell me you wouldn't be calling for Dusty's head right now even if we had won the World Series in 2003.

Wait, wait, wait...all you said is that "he'll never be a successful manager." That implies that as a manager of a baseball team, he will not succeed. Your team winning the WS flies completely in the face of that. Now, question his statements and his attitude and his temper, etc., that's totally different. No, his success doesn't give him a license to do and say whatever he wants. But you cannot argue that he has not had tremendous success as a manager. And what does Dusty have to do with any of this? None of that has anything to do with whether Ozzie is a successful manager, which he has been and which he still is.

Let's see if I can untangle this...you hypothetically ask whether or not I'd be as mad at Dusty as I am now had the Cubs won in 2003, ignoring the fact that a WINNING Cubs team in 2003 drastically changes the face of any Cubs team afterwards. But if we want to do this in ridiculous over-simplified terms, yes, I would be ticked off at how bad the team was last year and this even if they had won in '03. Hell, probably even more so since they won the friggin' WS in 2003 and then less than 2 years later turn into one of the worst teams in baseball. Now what the hell does any of that have to do with Ozzie his success as a manager? The White Sox don't stink...in fact, a lot of people think they're even better than last year. Where exactly is he not succeeding AS A MANAGER?

I meant that just b/c he has a WS title, he's not automatically a succesful manager. Dusty has been manager of the year 3 times, and he's not what I would call a succesful manager. Ozzie won't be succesful in the long run b/c of his inflamatory statements. He's going to say the wrong thing to the wrong person one day, and he will pay dearly for it. Heck, I think he'd have already paid if he had to face Carlos Lee since pissing him off, saying, "We had a guy go into 2nd base as if his wife was turning a double play." El horso still has a grudge against Ozzie, and one of the main reasons he has expressed interest in playing for us is so that he can stick it to Ozzie. I interpret that as going in hard to 2nd base the way he did when he injured Walker, with the intent of ending Iguchi's or Uribe's season.

Well then what the heck makes you successful? Good sound bytes? A successful manager is not always a good/great manager, but a world championship does make them successful.

Ex: Bob Brenly is not a good manager. Bob Brenly was a successful manager in that he won a world series.

Ozzie didn't pick Contreras. The players voted for him, along with Kazmir, Papelbon, Rivera, Rogers, Halladay, Ryan, and Santana. Ozzie selected Buehrle, Jenks, Zito, and Redman.

Foot in mouth.

Ozzie took Konerko as long as a few other lone reps I think.

He had to rep 4 teams. Then he took Konerko, Buerhle and Jenks.
