I've heard a handful of Stones songs, none of which I liked, and have only heard Race for the Prize by the Lips, which I enjoy, so it was the Lips for me.

The Rolling Stones have a lot of songs I enjoy, but I almost always seem to enjoy them more when they are covered by a different band.

The Lips. Liked them in college but when a band has more greatest hits albums than you have alone you 'gotta tip your cap'.

i'm really suprised that people don't know much about the flaming lips. their sound is AMAZING and they are arguably one of the most creative bands of all time. get the soft bulletin in 5.1 surround, or yoshimi for that matter. the drumming is so... just breath taking. the way that the last few albums just flow, and the fact that they've been putting out trememdous records for a couple decades now should certainly make them closer to the stones than they are. they have several full lengths. not sure how many greatest hits albums rolling stones have, but believe me, TFL are more than 'vasoline' or 'do you realize'. maybe if wayne coyne were more of a sex symbol than he is they would be more recognized...
