BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH INNING

 

Perez singled to center field

D Lee singled to left center field, Perez to second

Ramirez grounded into a DP, 6-4-3, D Lee out at second

Nevin grounded out to short, 6-3

 

0 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 men left on base

Is it just my imagination or have the Cubs been especially bad about giving up runs early in games this year? Do you have the Cub vs' opponent run differential by inning this year? For example, by how much have our opponents outscored in the first inning of games this year, etc.

By looking at these stats, you can see the difference between Cub starting pitching versus their middle relief.

 

Or the other team has such a big lead by the 7th that they have their scrubs in.

 

Starters ERA = 5.38

Relievers ERA = 4.07

Overall ERA = 4.88

Is Dusty to blame for anything that's happened tonight? This game has been about the pitchers (and our hitter's inability to score with RISP). Capuano's quick move prevents the runners from getting much of a lead so it's not like the hit and run is a good idea to stay out of the DP.

 

Maddux has now put this one out of reach at 5-0

My point was .... Baker has continually, routinely, constantly made excuses about the teams poor play. the entire year. And probably after tonight as well. Give me a break.

My point was .... Baker has continually, routinely, constantly made excuses about the teams poor play. the entire year. And probably after tonight as well. Give me a break.

 

They haven't gotten a hit with RISP but I wouldn't say the team (batters anyway) has played poorly tonight. Up until last half inning, Maddux was pitching well also. Capuano has pitched nicely and its not like it's the first time this year...
