The games kick off at 2 pm on Friday with #1 Clemson and Colvin against #8 GT. I think the winner of this game will win the entire tournament. Tech hit the ball very well against Clemson in every game this season. In the ACC Final, Tech ran out of pitching having to battle from the losers bracket. Rice escaped the SR and that might have been their wakeup call.

Bracket

Georgia and Georgia Tech on opposite sides of the bracket and would make for the tremendous final.

when is the CWS slated to finish? Our short season team here starts play on the 20th and we have some important players unsigned due to playing in the CWS

Colvin is the only "important" player we've got playing in the CWS; Smith was only a 35th round selection and he's a junior. I'll bet he's going back unless we overslot him but who knows?

I wasn't referring to the Cubs. The Short-A season in my town is a Cardinals affiliate.

True, I also see that they are "our" short season team.

Tyler Colvin is a first team All-America. =D>

And I want to give a shout to players who played for a state of Alabama university for making the 2nd/3rd teams all-american. Especially, Mike Felix making as a hitter and a pitcher. =D>

Great to see Wieters get recognized with the 1st team. His pitch recognition at the plate is probably the best in the college game. He has reached base by hit or walk in 20 of the last 26 PA coming into the CWS. I'd like to see the Cubs continue tanking so they have a shot at him in the first round next year.

Yes, "we" as in the team in my town. I try to pretend they aren't affilated with the Cardinals the best I can. At any rate the affiliation agreement is up after this year and, with any hope, they'll reaffiliate.

Back to my question though. Does the CWS run past the 20th? If so, do players who were drafted then just sign and join the teams whenever they're done?

Typically guys get shipped off to Mesa unless they're already pretty advanced. After a bit of time down there, usually they get moved to Boise or Peoria.
