I know that up to this point he's been a very mature, yet raw player. Now he's only one step below the majors. Juan Pierre is the only person really blocking him and he's struggling horribly. Does anyone think that Pie is pressing trying to show the Cubs' brass that he's capable of atleast doing better than Pierre is doing right now? Up until this point in his career he's been able to make a little bit more contact and be atleast slightly more patient at the plate. I know he's facing a much tougher level of competition this year but I atleast makes me wonder.

I don't know if I would say he is struggling horribly. He's hitting .260, which is below his career average, but is still respectable. I don't have his peripheral numbers in front of me, but he has five or six hr's. But, I do agree, he may be pressing a bit due to the fact that he is so close. I have a feeling he has a hot streak coming up.

I think right now his numbers are staying decent because of his hot start, but it's hiding a problem that has taken hold recently. I hope it is just a cold streak, but they've taken him out of the leadoff spot (probably not his natural spot anyways) and dropped him down into 7th and then he recently moved back into the #2 spot. In June he's only hitting .256 (10/39) with only 3RBI and 4 runs scored. He's only had 4 XBH (3 doubles and 1 HR) with a K/BB ratio or 11/4. Hopefully I'm just over reacting, but it really seems like the further we get into the season the less patient he becomes.

I've been concerned with his relative lack of power in a hitter's league, moreso than his patience (which, of course, is a concern).

That is a bit concerning but he's still hit a decent about of doubles and triples though. I haven't ever seen him play so it his kind of hard to comment; maybe he's got more of a linedrive stroke so even though he's hitting the balls hard enough, they just don't have enough height to make it over the walls?

Also, I just remember that TT posted splits of some of our prospects and that Pie was having problems with righties. Since he's facing so many more RHP, that could explain some of his problems.

Felix makes great adjustments. Almost always gets better ABs as the game goes on and as he gets comfortable vs. a pitcher. Hasn't happened that much this year, but I would expect him to have a big 2nd half of the season. His patience, hasn't been that bad...I agree that power seems to be my biggest problem with his season so far, as I thought he would hit for much more pwoer in the PCL.

TT, are those for his career or for this season? I went through all of the boxscores for June and he's only 10/39 (.256 BA) this month.

This season, although brewcrewball hasn't updated since the 6th, so the June numbers aren't very accurate. Forgot to check the update day when I first got them.

I don't know if it's a typo or you're looking at the wrong month, but May is the 5th month.

Sorry, it is one big typo...I wasn't even paying attention but the stats are from the June boxscores. I'll go back and edit it.
