There are some teams where money is not going to be an object and the contract will not be a huge hurdle, especially if the Cubs send some cash. The Yanks, Red Sox, etc.... if they need a left handed bat headed down the stretch they will do what it takes to win no matter what.

But Hendry isn't going to trade Jones so it doesn't matter.

I don't think you'll see a trade where it looks like we're getting rid of him and throwing in cash to help, but I can see Hendry trading him as value in a package to bring in an impact player.

I really can't. I would be very surprised if Hendry traded Jones.

As would I. June 15th is when the Cubs can trade Jones. I don't see them making that type of move until near the end of July and I agree that Jones is in Chicago to stay.

For a minimum of 2 years.

For as long as Mr. Hendry is the GM anyway or the 3 year deal runs out.

I'm still holding out hope that some bonehead GM gets desperate and offers an A prospect for Jones and Jimbo takes the deal.

Step away from the bong.

I know it's probably a futile hope, but I can dream.

I have the feeling that if Jones keeps this up until the trade deadline, Hendry will think "wow, what a great signing I'm glad I have this guy locked up for 2 more years. He is going to be a big part of our 2007 season."

If Jones comes back down to earth and plays like he did at the beginning of the year the Cubs will be stuck with him because no one will want him. I just have this feeling that he is going to be with the Cubs one way or another.

The bottom line is all of this is Hendry is not going to trade Jones, regardless of how he plays.

Agreed. People need to stop thinking about how to trade Jacques Jones for the time being. JJ will be a Cub for at least 2 FULL years.

How do you know some dumb desperate GM won't make a great offer in hopes of contending this year and saving his job?

First: Steve Phillips is in the ESPN studio, so there goes your theory of "desparate GM trying to save his job."

Second: Because JJ in his first yr of the contract, and not to many teams are going to look to acquire a player at the begining of his contract. Besides, JJ is a Hendry target, and he wouldn't trade him, just yet. His value is too high, in Hendry's mind.

Third: If a desparate Gm is looking at JJ as a player who could save his job, then perhaps, said GM should be updatinghis resume, cause he will be fired, anyways.

Most of the "big money teams" already have their OF set. So, the Cubs would have to eat some of the contrct to move Jacque to another team. To which, I just don't see JJ being moved this season.
