Just to update this topic, the idiot Angels sent Jered down to the minors. In other news, his brother still has an ERA over 6, and still will be in the starting rotation. Oh well, I guess the Angels are already 7 games out and counting now... those idiots deserve what they get for farming out one of their better pitchers.

Jeff's last 4-5 starts have been respectable, though.

Respectable, but not lights out like Jered's were.

Baseball people are much more interested in striving for respectability and mediocrity than flaunting conventional wisdom and risking failure in the pursuit of greatness. And if they can stick with the age old rule of giving service time more thought than performance, all the better.

I'd like to congratulate those who signed him to their fantasy teams before this outing.

I waited all year to use my #1 waiver status. Some questioned why I waited for him, but I feel good about it now

i used mine on hamels.

i think he'll have more value for the rest of the year (once he gets off the DL..bleh).

weaver is likely to be sent down when colon returns, right? he'll end up taking his brother's place eventually, but there's still a bit of time before that happens.

Hamel's has already been back for a little while now; all he had was a shoulder strain.

uh, take a look at the date of the post, duderino.

I don't mind what the Angels are trying to do. They're trying to trade Jeff and his trade value certainly drops if they demote him to the pen. Jered will be back soon.

One thing I noticed about Weaver is he throws across his body. As a pitcher this feels more natural for you but as a result it can cause shoulder problems in the future. A good example of this is Kerry Wood.
