If I had the choice right now of either Hendry as GM and a new manager or Baker as manager but a new GM....I think I'd probably take the second option.

For those that know my position on Baker, that says a lot about how I feel about the construction of this team.

Agreed. If we had a quality GM, we're basically taking the steering wheel out of Baker's hands. Its hard to flub up when you have quality players on the bench and on the field.

As Dusty proved in SF.

I'm shifting more to the "Hendry is the real problem" camp myself. Though I still maintain that Rothschild is a monster no matter who else is managing/coaching around him.

So I'm watching the Cardinals/Astros game, and the Cards announcers just said that Hendry has already worked out an extension with Dusty Baker, but the Cubs are waiting for a good time to announce it to avoid a backlash of public criticism.

I wasn't paying attention to the game until they started talking about Dusty, so I don't know if they were claiming inside information or just speculating.

If true, the Cubs will go more than 100 years without a World Series championship.

You're basically talking about the need to "Dusty-Proof" the team.

Not at all. I'm talking about constructing a decent team. I do, however, believe that Dusty's hand is all in the roster construction, but I'm not talking about Dusty-proofing.

today during the astros/cardinals game the announcer(fox STL) said "apparently there is already a contract extension in place for Dusty, the cubs front office is just waiting for the right time to announce it"

i hope he was just blowing smoke but according to him the deal is done

That's been reported everywhere for the past couple of weeks.

heck, i dont even watch BBTN anymore.

I gave up on that show years ago. You might find yourself understanding a whole lot more about baseball without having those guys literally decaying your brain.

i agree, in fact when i used to watch it, i usually did so with the sound down and misic playing in the background. its actually a decent show if you mute it.

True, it used to be fun to get some highlights from around the league, especially at a bar when you had no idea what went on that day/night. And if the sound is off, it is much better.
