April vs May, salt in wounds

Cubs stats, April vs May:

April

.256/.316/.408, 109 runs in 23 games in which we went 13-10

May

.231/.283/.330, 58 runs in 23 games in which we have gone 5-18 so far

Our offense went from mediocre to awful. And we were just swept by the Marlins.

Does anyone have the pre- and post- Derrek injury stats? I'd guess they'd be even more striking.

I know the following statement has been repeated 1000 times on this board by now, but I've never been as frustrated with a Cubs team in my life.

I've been using 26 April, rather than the day of Lee's injury, as the beginning of the end for our CUBS......

Fred rocks as much as the Cubs suck right now.

The team OPS is down over 0.1 and the team ERA is almost two runs per game higher since April 27 went down. Wow.

I keep trying to point out that Lee went down in game #14, but this team didn't die until game #20.

Sorry. I forgot about that. You're right. Fixed. The Cubs did just what I expected them to do after Lee went down: tread water for a little while and then fall off the map.

Maybe not, but of the three wins we recorded during the gap, two were against the Marlins. I would attribute our treading water to their horrible pitching (horrible outside of Dontrelle, and we were only mediocre against the rest) rather than anyone stepping up after DLee went down.

.256/.316/.408 is short of mediocre in my opinion. I'd say from April to May they went from awful to helplessly putrid.
