OK, this guy is impressing the heck out of me!

He looked shaky in the 6th yesterday, but he got out of the situation.

Who else is on board?!

The guy has flirted with at least 2 no nos in his rookie year. I'm aboard for sure.

I'm not disputing this necessarily, but at what point does it become "flirting" with a no-no? I think both of them were broken up in the 6th inning. Just curious. :)

Did you see the AP's story about yesterday's game?

CHICAGO (AP) -- Sean Marshall has a new tradition for his pregame meal, and it's working for the Cubs rookie.

*snip*

"I had a steak and a salad for lunch and then a bratwurst before the game," Marshall said of his ritual, which he started in late April. "It's been good."

I think I'll start watching him pitch with a whole plate full of brats!

To banedom:

For me, I guess that 5 no hit innings is enough to call flirting with a no no.

6 innings could be a kiss from the no no and obviously once you get 9 she's yours forever! (barring extra innings of course)

I really like Marshall alot! He's shown alot of poise and maturity on the mound, and he's had great control and generally throws first pitch strikes. We weren't expecting any rooks to step up like he has, and that makes him even more special.

I'm on that bandwagon for sure.... he's so good they'll probably trade him!

If it lands us Cabrera.........

Kinda off the Marshall topic, but what about this Galagher kid? Is he comparable to Marshall stuff wise? I've been hearing his name here lately.

I'm on!! This kid's fun to watch. I'm fully expecting him to be traded by the trade deadline. It makes me nervous what's going to happen when both Prior and Miller get back. You think Miller's getting nervous??

I think Miller needs to worry about not getting fatigued and getting to a good place pitching wise instead of focusing on young Sean.

Obviously that doesn't mean he's not thinking about it. Ideally the guys rehabbing would have no clue what's going on on the big league club, but we all know that's not the case.

No way do we trade Marshall unless it's part of a package to land an all-star like Cabrera.

Watching Marshall reinforces my belief that a team is better off having a pitcher coming out of nowhere to make an impact than to draft a stud pitcher, who already has too much wear and tear on his arm. Look at how many young stud pitchers come up lame these days.

One other thing....Miller will hopefully be taking Rusch long relief position when he returns. Marshall is firmly planted in the starting rotation considering the team is 6-2 when Big Sean is on the bump.

I'm very concerned about Marshall pitching well past his normal innings pitched total. Having only pitched between 75 and 90 innings per year the past couple years, he's not a good candidate to be in the rotation all season.

I've been thinking about this as well. What do the Cubs do if Marshall continues to pitch well? What should they do? (What they will do and what they should do are usually 2 different things when it comes to the Cubs) Could they just shut him down?
