No one is ever going to lump Buck Coats in with the elite prospects in the game, but, with that said...

He's killing AAA this year. He's 23, so it's not like he's that old or has reached AAAA status before doing so. He's got a .360 average, and a .406 OBP, which indicates decent, but not great, discipline or walk rate. He's not hitting for a ton of power, but he's looking like a solid hitter thus far.

Buck is a guy I always kind of liked, but never realistically thought he'd hold too much value for the organization. Could he be pulling a Ronny Cedeno? Ronny was always all glove no bat until one day the light seemed to come on while he was at AA. Or is this just an early season fluke?

His error in ST almost cost the ballgame. Dusty will never forgive him.

BeerPrediction: He gets shipped at the deadline to get some overpriced RF that we'll lost at the end of the year

His ceiling is rising because he actually looks like he could be a major leaguer now. His ceiling will never be that high, though, because he doesn't have much power. His best bet as a ML would be as a CF. He reminds me of David Dellucci right now. Dellucci did develop more power and a better batting eye as he aged, but is still just a part time player.
