I'm not hopeful that Wood will be in top form the moment he returns to the Cubs, but I'm hoping that just getting one of our big guns back will infuse some much needed energy into the club once he gets there. I'm for bringing him up after the Peoria start if he looks at least somewhat sharp.

As long as he can throw an acceptable number of pitches once he's in his big league team, which I don't think is likely after just the 1 rehab start.

My bad on that. Went with the standard Peoria rotation, but with Kerry starting tomorrow, it makes sense to let Atkins start today and use Yepez in relief tomorrow.

Felix leads off the Iowa game with a bunt single but then is caught stealing 2nd. Theriot and Coats strike out to end the top half of the 1st for Iowa. Edited by Flames24Rulz

Actually, Yepez has a blister and was skipped. Atkins came back to today because of the off day Wednesday. Wood will be follwed by the pen.

Veal, Blackford, Yepez and Taylor in Ft. Wayne...Atkins starts game 1 in So Bend.

Oh, thanks Nathan! It doesn't sound too serious if he's expected back next time around. Did the blister affect his last start where he walked 7 in 4 innings?

Walrond continues to give up unearned runs. It's kind of amazing. 18 runs given up, just 8 of them earned for a 2.12 ERA

A called strike, three fouls, and a single to right for Felix. He's 4 for 5 on the day.

Daytona down 5-3 in the middle of the 8th.

Grant Johnson gave up 5 earned in 5.2 innings. Apparently he was nibbling a bit and just couldn't finish off hitters with 2 strikes today. Jake Fox is 1 for 4 with a single and a strikeout. Aaron Weston has a solo HR. Ryan Harvey's BA is down to .194. Tim Layden has looked good in relief.

Daytona gets 1 in the 9th and come up short, 5-4. Ryan Harvey was the last out and his BA is down to .192.

The announcers really were talking about how Grant Johnson got ahead of a lot of hitters but couldn't finish them of.

Ron Potesta thinks Brian Dopirak will be back by early-to-mid June.

Randy Wells, on a 60-pitch pitch count, threw 58 pitches for 2.2 shutout innings. Randy gave up 1 hit, struck out 4 and walked 1.

In the 4th, Bobby Brownlie is getting rocked - he gave up a 2 RBI single to the opposing pitcher with the bases loaded. After a Luis Montanez error, Brownlie gave up another 2-RBI single.

In the middle of the 4th, West Tenn is down 4-0.
