I have Crosby and Ellis and looking to upgrade.

I am looking at Barmes and Hardy.

Hardy is getting a lot of praise, partly because of the lineup he's in, but Barmes does play in Colorado.

I don't know anything about Hardy; how does he project?

I also have Crosby and picked up Hardy when Crosby was said to be out a week. I've been thrilled with him - and though he's not going to put up a 1.100 OPS for the year, in that lineup, he should be a very productive fantasy SS.

What makes you say Hardy should be a very productive fantasy SS? I'm only asking because I'm a newb fantasy player, and looking at the stats, Barmes's 2005 seems more productive than Hardy's.

I don't think either of them is an upgrade to Crosby.

I agree. I want to keep Crosby as my starter and upgrade my backup SS with Barmes or Hardy.

First off, don't pick up Barmes.

His numbers last year look better than they should because he got injured right after his hot streak. Kept his season numbers from regressing to the mean, even if his talent level still isn't that high. Barmes just wont be worth more than Crosby or Hardy.

As for Hardy, he should be pretty good this season. Last I heard, he was gonna be batting in the 2 hole, with pretty good hitters up and down that lineup. He should score quite a few runs.

But Crosby will outperform both easily when he's healthy.

Nice insight. I didn't know that about Barmes. I'm now going to drop Barmes for Hardy, who is a FA.
