Found this nice little article about Neifi and his attitude toward Cedeno and being a backup. I know that Neifi gets alot of flack from us fans, but it has been pretty classy of him to mentor Cedeno.

Maybe that's why Cedeno was pressing so much during camp. It's definitely why Perez pulled him aside before Opening Day for a frank talk.

''The problem he had in spring training, he was feeling too much pressure,'' said Perez, who went 3-for-4 with a run in his first start at second base. ''The only thing I told him, I just said, 'See the ball and hit it.' Simple. He can hit, he can play defense, he is going to be a great shortstop. But when the guys put too much pressure on themselves, they are not going to do anything good.

''He doesn't have that pressure he used to have. I told him in spring training, 'Even if you hit .069, you are going to be the shortstop, so don't put any pressure on yourself.' ''

Pretty classy by Neifi. I don't think anyone thinks he's not a class-act. It's more how Baker uses Neifi than Neifi himself.

Neifi has no business starting but he seems to be a pretty good guy. Last year I bought four tickets to in "the home plate club" section at PNC as a father's day gift for my pop. My wife and I met my mom and dad in Pittsbugh and went to the game.

The home plate club is pretty cool. Anyway, during batting practice Neifi took the time to talk to me for about five minutes when he saw me decked out in Cub blue. Nice guy.

I tried to talk to Dubios, but I called him creature and if looks could kill, I'd be in boot hill. Needless to say, he didn't come over.

I applaud Neifi's enthusiasm in helping out, but I'd prefer to see Derrek Lee or Aramis Ramirez working with Cedeno on his hitting. Neifi can help him with his defense.

Don't you want to see Cedeno trying to bunt to the SS??? :D

How many errors would Cedeno have had if yesterday's game wasn't in Wrigley? 2?

Stop double clutching the damn ball and throwing into the runner, dude.

It's nice to see him have a nice day with the bat though. I don't want to see Neifi everyday at SS.
