HEY GANG! Sorry if this question has been posed and answered before (I’d use the Search function, but well – you know…).

I’m heading up with my 3 oldest sons to see the Cubbies kill the Reds on 4/13 and they have been asking if they can get autographs and if we’ll get to see batting practice. I can’t find a schedule anywhere.

Does anyone know

1) when the gates open for a 1:20 game?

2) when the home and away teams have batting practice?

3) if we get there early, is it possible to get close to the field to try and get some autographs (we’ve got bleacher box seats)??

Thanks for your help!

Gates open two hours before game time, so 11:20. If you go in right when the gates ipen you will see the Cubs take BP for about 20 minutes, then the reds will come out.

The BP scedules will shorten if weather mandates.

From the bleacher boxes, I doubt you'll be able to get down close to the field.

if you show up about 5 hours early, you can hang out by the entrance to the players' parking lot and try and get some stuff signed. But don't be surprised if the players don't sign stuff since it's opening day and they all want to get to work.

It depends if the bleacher boxes are connected to the rest of the stadium like the bleachers are supposed to be. If that's the case, then you could watch BP in the infield and then go to your seats after BP. Of course, you'd be missing out on some chances for BP HR balls.

Also a lot of times if you get there early players flip a lot of balls up into the bleachers. My little brother got one from Derrick May a few years back.

yeah. A buddy of mine got one from some Rockies player last year. he threw it back during the 8th inning when someone wouldn't throw a Rockies homer back.

A few years back when I still tried tried to get autographs at games, the best luck I had was wait outside the player parking lot after the game. A lot of people do sign out there (even some coaches), and it's cool to see all of the players walk out and go to their cars.
